SE has a long-running commitment to getting anyone to the conference that wants to come. If anything in this section isn't addressing an accessibility need, let us know.
Blurb On Past Sites
Our 2023 site was a new one for us, and our staff was unable to visit in advance to stake out the access needs, so people were informed in an unfortunately ad hoc way. Our hope in 2024 is that we will have more advance notice of a site and all the limitations of it, and be able to include photos of specific barriers for those who may benefit. The conference is largely led by disabled people with a wide variety of access requirements, and this is not something we take lightly when researching our sites and communicating with those we rent from.
Physical Barriers
This section will be updated when we confirm our site for 2024!
Sensory Accessibility
The site is low-odor and we have some systems to mitigate cross-talk during important meetings. We currently don't have any ASL interpreters. (We are looking for leads on grants that would allow us to hire them upon request.)
Financial Accessibility
In addition to our sliding scale, we'll make sure your needs are met for the duration of the conference. To that end, we'll cover travel and certain expenses if you need it. We may also have rideshare co-ordinator get in touch with you if you're comfortable with carpooling with other conferees! We will never ask you to prove your income. Please understand that if it's between the cost and coming to the con, we want you to be able to come to the con! Don't feel bad about this, you can always pay us later if you're able. Ideally, just don't register for a lower amount than you've agreed to pay, as this influences our budget plans.
